~Market Finds~

Decided to get motivated really earyly this morning to make it to the local Sunday Market.  I havent been there is since it moved to a new location...which to say is years.   Soooooo glad I did.  While most of what was there was junk is an understatement and it reminded me why I stopped going...this morning was my lucky day......I found a diamond in the rough..well two actually.  I could not believe my luck when I found this stunning vase for $2.00 and this little carriage clock for $3.00.  Although the clock is battery run it is very heavy and a little bit shabby (just the way I like it)  I still cant get over my luck in securing this stunning vase..it is a delight...and I must admit my new prised possesion.  There is apparently another market on Wednesday held just outta town so I may even give that one a go as well.

I finally got my sewing cabinet into my office and tucked it into a corner...not much room but at least I have somewhere to sew again.  The shelves above used to hold all my computer programs but with a bit of a shuffle I managed to squeeze them into a cupboard so I can place a few of my sewing bits and pieces on the shelves now.
I forgot I had this sweet little doll figurine, she is actually a very vintage tape measure and the metal around her belly if magnetic to hold pins.
I have had a very productive Sunday, but I think finding the vase was the best part of the day.

~Shabby Finds~

Here are the goodies I purchased in Mildura...The top piccy is actually made from soap....looks good enough to eat.

~Vintage Cleaning Tips~

I thought I would share some of my cleaning tips.......
Tarnished Silver.........place item in an aluminium pan and cover with baking soda....pour over boiling water and allow to sit for a few minutes before removing and buff with a soft cloth.
Crystal......for foggy vases and such pour in undiluted vinegar and allow to sit for an hour or so......if need be add uncooked rice and shake to remove stubborn stains.
Mirrors......mix two parts metholayted spirits to 3 parts water into a spraybottle for streak free shine.
Carpets.....for a very hard to remove stain...try using white spirits on a clean cloth and blot the stain, turning the cloth frequently. (Before trying test on an inconspicuous area first)
Weeds....a natural weed spray, mix 3 cups white vinegar with 1/4 cup of dishwashing liquid, using a spray bottle, spray directly onto weeds (preferbly on a clear day).  Weeds will usually wilt and die within a week or so.
Vaccuum Cleaner....does your vaccuum cleaner leave a dusty smell in the air after cleaning...then try this....place a few drops of your favourite oil on a makeup pad and place inside the dirt catchment area (bagless vaccuums) or place drops on the bag itself (if using disposable bags) for a fresh smell everytime.

~Blog Hopping~

Home again after a lovely few days away in gorgeous Mildura.  Found a few treasures (piccys up later) which I cant wait to find a place for.  I am having a few decorator dilemas in that I seem to always arrange everything organised and balanced.  I know the look I want to create but everytime it always looks just too arranged...too symetrical...and I cant seem to get past this...any ideas would be appreciated.
As to the title of this blog...I have been wandering over many beautiful blogs to try and help me with some ideas as how to display my pretties, and got a little carried away in that I spent 3 hrs blog hopping and no closer to any ideas of how to arrange my collection lol but I have seen some amazing blogs and some beautiful homes...so definitly not a waste of time.

~Project on hold~

Hubby and I have decided to take a short holiday to Mildura as of tomorrow.  I am looking forward to shopping and antique hunting....for anything pink of course.  We havent had a break away since the kids were little so excited and nervous all at the same time.  I will miss my babies (the cats and dogs) but my daughter is gonna take care of them for me...but it wont stop me missing them.  I will be taking lappy with me...so hopefully I will be able to post some piccies.

~Blog Junkie~

Ok I confess..although reasonably very new to this I have to admit I am becoming a blog Junkie lol.  I thought when I started this I would post maybe once or twice a week...but here I am posting everyday...but as yet no visitors so for now I am posting more for myself...and thats ok....I will think of it as my own personal online diary (without all the nitty gritty lol) although I do hope sooner or later someone discovers me *anyone*.
Anyway i was sitting here thinking what to do today...not sure if I am in the mood to paint when I was struck with an idea (yes I do have them occassionally).  Since turning my craft room into a bedroom for a friend of my sons who was kicked outta home (who has since built his own home) and then another gorgeous stray moved in after that (who has sinced moved on) I decided to turn this room into my home theatre room and therefore...no craft room :( ....sorry lost what I starting talking about....oh yeah I am in need of a new craft area....so I was thinking...my office..although small if I get rid of a few thing (lots actually) I might be able to fit in my sewing machine and a small cupboard for my craft things.  I will keep you posted and yes I will try to remember to take photo's

~My Home~

~I thought I would share with you my favourite piece .
I have never seen another piece like this one ever...and although it now has aged crazing it is still an amazing piece with beautiful colours and gorgeous roses.
I bought this many years ago from my favourite 2nd hand shop called "Hazel's".  This used to be an incredible shop and where I spent countless hours on my knees scouring though shelves and shelves of old china, knick knacks and everything else you can imagine.  I would hate to think how many of my prized possessions have come from there.  Unfortunatly the shop has undergone many changes recently and now predominately sell new items and very little of the old wares, which is such a shame.

Here is a shabby stool I made over featuring full blush roses on a duck egg blue background, and painted Antique White USA.
I have to remember to take before photo's ...I always forget those :)

~Welcome~

Hi and Welcome to my blog.  Who ever said starting a blog was easy didn't have me in mind.  This is the second one I have done in two days...the first which took me 4 hours to organise wont let me in...so here I am finally after another few hours.  After seeing so many wonderful and pretty blogs I thought its time to share with you my love of everything shabby.
