~Sewing Room~

Its been a busy couple of weeks.....totally missed Pink Saturday last week as I have been busy turning the spare room (was my daughters room) into my sewing room.  It has gone from its garish bright green, navy and white to pretty pink & white.  I also pulled out the carpets because they were beyond hope but a replacement flooring will have to wait until the budget allows (I know I will have to pull the room apart again)  Nothing creative has happened yet and there are still some touches to finish in there, but its taking shape nicely.
Thank you to Beverley from How Sweet The Sound for being our lovely host each week

  9. I, who have not a sewing gene to my name, and count a replaced button as a completed task, would NOW love a Sewing Room. Just the idea of all that beautiful, creative area just to make wonderful things is a happy thing to contemplate..

Years ago, a friend downsized from her immense house after an accident, and as I helped her pack, I was enthralled at her own sewing room, with every machine and convenience and counter and gadget right there to hand, and was completely captivated by the border around the closet door. It was probably eight inches wide, all around, from the floor on both sides and across the top, of shining brass nails, each holding a spool of thread. It was like a swath of squared rainbow, in graduated colors that swept up and over and down in an ombre effect that I remember to this day as one of the most surprising and lovely things I've ever seen.

For some reason, she boxed up all the thread and gave it to me---pound and pounds of it, all those spools from uncounted garments and other beautiful projects. I "lent" it to my dear neighbor, who does bits and pieces of sewing for me---little costumes for the grandchildren, or a hem in new pants. She has them all boxed in see-through tubs in her sewing space, and I'm smiling just thinking of it.

Your own creation is absolutely charming, in all my favorite styles and colors, and I wish you years and years of happy sewing in that enchanting place.

I DID pick up one gorgeous roll of pink ribbon yesterday when we were out and about, so there's that.
