~A Pinky Past~

My week has been busy moving all my junk (err treasures) from the spare room as my daughter is moving back home for a while to get back on her feet.  My poor sewing room looks like a demolition site so nothing creative is happening in there for a while so this weeks pinks are ones I have posted in the past from around my home .  Thank you to Beverley from  How Sweet The Sound for being the pinkest host.

  1. I just come here and look my eyes full of all your delightful creations. I meant, Meant, MEANT to say last week that your absolutely beautiful cabinet has tipped the balance to "TO PAINT," for I've been debating for years if it would be a sacrilege to paint the wonderful old "hutch" my Daddy built in 1956. It's made of the actual paneling of the dining room that they built then, lengthwise grooves and all, as so many cabinets and pieces were back then.

He was very proprietary about anything he'd made or given us, and expected it to be in top-notch shape and the exact condition he'd presented it in, and til he passed on, he still grumbled every visit because I'd given the buffet to the inherited dining room set to my son and DDIL.

I always craved for it to be cream or white, and would look at blogs and pictures, hoping I'd be capable of doing a good job on this hutch. And now, he's been gone for several years, and I STILL haven't got around to it.

Several people said leave it as is, for it's such a historic piece, and others agree that it would be lovely. And now---your stunning cabinet has decided for me---I said to myself it's TIME, it's almost paint-outdoors weather, and if there was anything online last week like it, I'd take the plunge.

Too many words from a stranger, but there it is. I've long longed to gather up all the pastel dishes, from all the nooks and crannies and cabinets all over the house, and make a serene, beautiful space like yours.

I hope I'm up to the challenge.

    1. Hi Rachel......I spent years buying antiques that someone had painted white and stripped them back to restore them to their former glory and now all I want to do is paint everything white. I have 3 dressers in my kitchen which are timber and hubby will not let me touch them with paint (he is a traditionalist) but the dinning room is my pretty room and I paint everything if it stands still long enough. Better to give something a new lease on life and continue to enjoy it than watch it date and become a piece that you cant wait to be rid off. Good luck with your painting...you will love it more when its looking very shabby and sweet and full of all your beautiful china. Michelle
