I have been noticing in recent months a few unhappy people blogging here and on fb about winning giveaways and then never hearing again from the people offering the giveaway nor receiving what they supposedly won. This is sad both for the person who won but more so for the person who held the giveaway, cause bad news spreads quicker than good.
The huge majority of people who have giveaways do deliver and follow through, as these are a great way to boost followers and to increase shop sales. People love to blog about their win and will praise the person who offered the prize in a very positive light which is just good business.
So my advice is this.....If you are offering a giveaway......make every effort to contact the winner...but most of all...follow through and send them their item they won....for they will reward you with their loyalty and friendship and sing your praises to everyone.
Have a fabulous weekend
It' hard to believe that someone would have a giveaway then not follow through with the gift.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of giveaways, stop by my blog and comment to win a bird's nest pendant.
I hadn't heard any of this - I agree completely! Just won something and received it - blogged about it - we do love to share while blogging!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Kathy
This is the first I have heard of this and it makes me very sad. I can't imagine the excitment of winning a give a way that never comes. Rude is the word that comes to mind, but I hate to think anyone could be so mean, Char
ReplyDeleteYup...one time I "won" an huge giveaway and she said the package must have been taken off her front step and or lost in the mail..RIGHT!!!
ReplyDeleteI no longer follow her blog...it's a shame and she never did offer to send even a tiny "replacement" gift...hmm... makes me wonder what really happened. Guess I'm still a little upset over it..Live and LEARN!!

I have not heard about this! I've never once not mailed my giveaway and think it's terrible to not follow through. That said...I've done lots of giveaways in order to "advertise" my biz. Most of the winners have been awesome. But there were a couple peeps who won and then I never heard from them again. :( :( :(
ReplyDeleteSad behavior either way!
Hugs to you~Rebecca
Hi Michelle!
ReplyDeleteTo go thru all the effort of having a giveaway and not even sending it is strange indeed!
I've had 14 giveaways (so far!) and all were recieved at their new homes safe and sound . . . except the last one which just ended ;-)
Naughty bloggers who do not follow thru!!
Have a super weekend!

I heard about this from one other person who won a giveaway that I had. She had told me that she won numerous giveaways but mine had been the first she ever recieved. She was far too much of a lady to call the other bloggers out on it though. I guess you could say that I was shocked when I heard of this. Why sponsor a giveaway and not follow through?? I know some bloggers do it as a quest for more followers. When I had my giveaways, I did not ask for more followers but just that they commented on a particular post and if they were already a follower, then they got another entry. I felt that I should not have to bribe people to follow me but I do not have a business to promote either.
